KCA DEUTAG has been operating land rigs in Western Europe since 1888. We have worked continuously in Germany for over 45 years and been active in France, Austria, Spain and the Netherlands for over 30 years.
Germany Our T-49 rig is working in Germany under a long-term contract with EWE to carry out gas storage drilling. There has been an increase in this type of drilling as Europeans focus on stock-piling gas reserves as a strategic measure to counter potential concerns over source areas.
A long-term framework contract is ongoing with EMPG (ExxonMobil) for our T-61 rig for drilling and heavy workover activities in Northern Germany. In addition, T-45 is performing an extended deep drilling well campaign for GdF (Gaz de France) in Northern Germany. Our rigs T-36 and T-85 are active for different clients (NWKG, WIAG, EMPG), mainly to workover existing wells.
T-65 has finished drilling campaign of more than 2 years for OMV in Austria and started drilling activities for EWE and Wintershall (WIAG) in Northern Germany.
Spain As from July 2009, T-46 started a two-year drilling campaign for ENAGAS close to Madrid on a gas storage project. Our modular rig T-208 moved after the successful drilling campaign with OMV from Austria to Spain and will start to drill an exploration well for OGS in December 2009.
France T-207, a new highly flexible and modular rig in our European fleet will be moved to France to drill a well in the Bordeaux area for Vermilion in early 2010.
