Bentec successfully delivers first 320t drilling rig of multi-million euro contract
16 December 2020
Bentec, one of the world's leading manufacturers of drilling rigs and oilfield equipment, has successfully constructed and delivered to its client INK-Service the first of a seven drilling rig multi-million euro contract.
INK-Service is the oilfield service unit of Russia's Irkutsk Oil Company.
The Bentec echelon-stationary drilling rig with a lifting capacity of 320 tons passed the customer acceptance test at Bentec's facility in Tyumen, Russia. The test was carried out together with representatives of INK-Service. The rig was manufactured at Bentec's production site in Tyumen using high-tech drilling components supplied by its facility in Germany.
Despite the challenges of pandemic-related travel restrictions during construction, the teams in Germany and Russia successfully deployed remote digital technologies to commission the state-of-the-art land rig to the highest standards. The rig is equipped with the latest Bentec components and drilling-enhancing software technology.
Based upon an updated delivery schedule agreed between Bentec and INK-Service, two further rigs will be delivered in 2021 and the remaining four rigs during 2022.
Dirk Schulze, CEO of Bentec said, "Delivering the first rig for our client is an important milestone. Our Bentec team is preparing to support the INK-Service crews with the rig's field start-up. Our focus now is on ensuring the remaining six rigs in the contract are delivered to Bentec and INK-Service's exacting quality standards, on time and with the highest level of after sales service. We are proud to continue working with INK-Service to deliver innovative drilling rigs, ideally suited to the extreme weather conditions often experienced in Russian oilfield operations."
The Irkutsk Oil Company is one of the largest independent oil and gas producers in Russia. The group mainly focuses on the geological study, exploration and production of crude oil, condensate and natural gas in Irkutsk region and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
