The KCA Deutag operated Scott Platform wins IADC Chairman’s Award

4 May 2018

The KCA Deutag operated Scott platform has won the Chairman's "Best Safety Performance Award" in the Platform category at the recent IADC North Sea Chapter 2017 Annual Safety Awards.

Winners are identified in a number of categories to recognise those individual rigs and their crews that have had the very best safety performance in the year.

Members are asked to put forward their best performing rigs and these are judged on a number of factors. Criteria include the number of safety incidents, dropped objects or spills to sea, as well as the type of operations and total man-hours worked. The winner for each category is chosen from a shortlist of contenders by an IADC Panel selected from IADC Drilling Contractor members.

To meet all of these criteria takes an exceptional performance and that is exactly what the KCA Deutag Scott crews delivered. While this achievement is exceptional from a safety performance perspective, it is even more so as this is the second consecutive year the Scott team have received this award.

Jim Paterson UK Country Manager said: "To win this award two years in a row is a fantastic achievement. It demonstrates diligence from our crews on Scott in complying with our safety processes and procedures ensuring every day is a safe day. This award has also been achieved while carrying out a challenging ERD drilling programme that was also a great success in terms of operational performance."
